Simona de Silvestro has escaped injury following a fire during today’s practice session for the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500. Her #29 TE Connectivity Honda/Dallara started trailing smoke as she was leaving the pit road warm up lane in turn 2. The smoke soon erupted into a fire and she coasted to stop in turn 3 and climbed from the car unharmed. In an announcement that came earlier today, Esteban Gutierrez will debut for Ferrari during Formula One’s in-season test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya the week following the Spanish Grand Prix. The Mexican was signed by Ferrari as a reserve driver for this season after a three year stint at Sauber, two in race seat. Nico Rosberg claimed victory in the Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, his first of 2015, beating teammate Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel after starting from pole.
