The fire broke out in the rear axle of the transporter and was contained to that area. The local Fire and Police departments worked with the two transport drivers, John Phil David and Eric “Stu” Stewart to put out the fire and keep the damage from potentially burning the entire vehicle. The fire occurred around 25 miles northeast of Phoenix International Raceway.
