The vacancy sign is now up on the No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet as the team announced Tuesday that it has mutually agreed to part ways with Daniel Suarez at the end of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Trackhouse has been the home for the 33-year-old Mexican-born driver from Monterrey, Mexico since 2021, when the team came into existence after team owner Justin Marks bought the NASCAR operation from Chip Ganassi Racing and rebranded the team into its current form.
Over the course of 162 starts in his five seasons with the team, Suarez has made his way to Victory Lane twice – 2022 at Sonoma and 2024 at Atlanta – banking his best points finishes in those two seasons, finishing 10th and 12th in the standings, respectively.
In addition to the wins, Suarez has scored 15 top-five finishes, 39 top-10 finishes, one pole, and an average finish of 18.9 along the way.
Prior to joining Trackhouse, Suarez had Cup Series stopovers at Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, and Gaunt Brothers Racing. He also won the 2016 Xfinity Series title with JGR in the season prior to making the jump to NASCAR’s premier series.
“The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever. His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career,” Marks said.
“We will forever be thankful and honored that Daniel chose to spend many incredible years with us. We are proud of his wins, his successes, the growth of his brand, and his emergence as a valuable athlete in America’s greatest motorsport. But, most of all, I’m proud of him as a friend.
“I’m truly excited to see what awaits him in the next chapter of his amazing career. We are grateful for the professionalism, effort and heart he’s brought to our organization.”
Suarez most recently signed a contract extension with Trackhouse last August to keep him in the seat of the No. 99 car through the 2025 season, but his future with the team has been up in the air as this year has played out.
Currently at the midway point of the 2025 season, Suarez’s best result came with a runner-up finish at Las Vegas and he sits 29th in the standings. Both of Suarez’s teammates, Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen, have already won a race and punched their tickets to the Playoffs.
While the Cup Series has not gone to plan this season, Suarez has found success in other series in 2025, scoring a win at his home track in Mexico City in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports in June.
“I want to thank all the men and women at Trackhouse Racing for your love and support.” said Suárez.
“I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team and I gained some incredible friends. We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running up front on a weekly basis.
“Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have mutually agreed to each go in our own direction. I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best, this No. 99 team will always be special to me. And like I always say, the best is ahead!”
