Garrett Making Truck Debut with Niece Motorsports at Las Vegas

By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Correspondent

Niece Motorsports adds another driver to the fold as Colin Garrett will make his NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series debut with the team.

Garrett will drive the No. 38 Wide Open Entrepreneurs Chevrolet Silverado in the World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will be the 19-year-old’s first start on a 1.5-mile track. Garrett will have teammate and playoff driver Ross Chastain to lean on, as well as other drivers in the GMS Racing alliance.

“I’m grateful to Al Niece and everyone at Niece Motorsports for this opportunity and am really looking forward to getting on track in the No. 38 Wide Open Entrepreneurs Chevrolet,” Garrett said. “I know we will have a solid truck, so it’s just a matter of learning as much as we can in practice and applying that to qualifying and the race.”

Similar to Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron, Garrett did not start his racing career until the age of 14. Although the Elmo, VA native joined the racing scene ‘late,’ he has gotten up to speed quickly.

Garrett finished fourth in points in the Limited Late Model division at South Boston Speedway in 2016, his second full year of competition. He won the championship in 2017, breaking the track record twice.

Earlier this season, Garrett made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with MBM Motorsports at Richmond Raceway. He started 24th and finished 26th.

Since 2018, Garrett has competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, as well as late model competition. In 22 K&N Pro Series starts, he has one top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. Garrett currently sits eighth in the K&N Pro Series East standings with two races left in the season.

The next K&N Pro Series East race for Garrett is the Apple Barrel 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 21.
