Inclement Weather Forces Postponement of Music City Grand Prix in Nashville

LEBANON, Tenn. – Mother Nature got the better of the NTT IndyCar Series at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday, with inclement weather forcing the postponement of the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix.

The 300-lap event around the 1.33-mile concrete oval was originally scheduled for 5:30 pm ET, but pushed later into the evening to piggyback off of the FIFA World Cup Final as a lead in, but by that time lightning had moved in and put the entire event into a holding pattern.

Though the weather cleared and track officials worked to begin their drying efforts, one final blow from the weather moved in shortly before 9:00 pm ET with a torrential downpour that erased all of their efforts and forced IndyCar to postpone the event to Monday afternoon.

Following the postponement, the race will now take place at 3:00 pm ET on FOX, SiriusXM, and the IndyCar Radio Network.

Kyle Kirkwood will lead the field to green with Nashville native Josef Newgarden starting alongside him on the front row.

Newgarden enters Sunday’s race as the defending race winner in Nashville as he won the season finale in 2025.
