Justin Allgaier Hopeful for Another Xfinity Dash 4 Cash Win

By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer

For the NASCAR Xfinity Series regulars, the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway is not just another race, it is the second Xfinity Dash 4 Cash race of the season. Justin Allgaier won the first Xfinity Dash 4 Cash race of the 2017 season at Phoenix Raceway a few weeks ago.

Allgaier’s Phoenix win earned him and his JR Motorsports No. 7 Brandt Chevrolet Camaro team an extra $100,000. Should he win Bristol, and sweep the remaining two Xfinity Dash 4 Cash races at Richmond International Raceway April 29 and Dover International Speedway June 3, Allgaier and his team would earn an extra $600,000, giving them a grand total of $1 million.

Not only would Allgaier earn extra money if he is the highest finishing Dash 4 Cash eligible driver, but it would prevent his competitors from earning a Playoff berth. If an eligible Xfinity Series regular wins the Dash 4 Cash twice, they automatically receive a Playoff berth (without any additional Playoff Points).

Allgaier has four career victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including one at Bristol in 2010 when he was competing for Team Penske. His Phoenix win was his first since Montreal in 2012. All four of Allgaier’s wins have come on different kinds of tracks, Bristol, a short track, Chicagoland, a 1.5-mile oval, Montreal, a road course, and Phoenix, a 1-mile oval.

In 213 Xfinity Series starts, Allgaier also has 44 top-five finishes, 114 top-10 finishes, and four pole positions.

Allgaier explained not only his, but his competitors’ motivations to win this weekend, saying: “Ultimately as drivers we are all looking for the win. If you don’t win, you want to have a high finish and earn that nice consolation prize. But if you can do both at the same time, it’s even better.”

“That influx of money is great for the XFINITY teams and it helps with budgets. If we could win the Bristol Dash 4 Cash, it would be a huge moment for us,” he added to explain just how much the Dash 4 Cash means to the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Allgaier will now look to take his No. 7 Cheney Brothers/Chevrolet/Cessna Chevrolet Camaro to victory lane as he hopes to repeat his success at a track for the first time.
