A difficult part-time season is finally turning around for Roush Fenway Racing’s Ty Majeski, as the Ford Performance development driver earned a career best finish in the Iowa 250 at Iowa Speedway.
However, Majeski’s top-10 did not come without a challenge to overcome.
Under a late caution on lap 200, he was busted for speeding on pit road in his No. 60 Ford Mustang. The penalty dropped Majeski from inside the top-10 to the tail-end of the lead lap. On the ensuing restart, he climbed up through the field with Riley Herbst, who also received the same penalty. The duo fought back and forth for the sixth position with Herbst coming out on top, and Majeski finishing seventh.
Majeski, a four-time ARCA Midwest Tour Champion (2014-2017), ran well throughout the entire race. In just his fifth start of the year, Majeski found his footing after encountering problems in the previous four races. He not only climbed from his 17thstarting spot but was well inside the top-10 at the end of Stage 2.
The seventh-place finish is just the second top-10 for Majeski in his short NASCAR Xfinity Series career. The top-10 comes in his eighth career start. Iowa is also just the fourth race in which Majeski was running at the finish after getting swept up in accidents in his other four starts.
Man we needed that! P7 at Iowa. Had a great car on the long run. The entire @roushfenway @FordPerformance 60 team did a great job all weekend. Pit stops were on point and @Mkelleyroush made awesome adjustments all day. Total team effort👍🏼
