INDIANAPOLIS – Marco Andretti’s 20th start in the Indianapolis 500 was over before it even began.

After the opening laps of the 109th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing started under yellow following a crash by Scott McLaughlin, the first green flag laps for Andretti would only last until Turn 1 when Ryan Hunter-Reay and Jack Harvey touched, pushing Harvey up into Andretti.

In turn, Andretti would end up in the Turn 1 wall, collecting Marcus Armstrong in the process as well.

“Just been patient,” Andretti said when asked if there was anything more that he could have done.

“I couldn’t have moved. Once I was committed up there, I was kind of at the wall. They must have been four-wide. I haven’t seen it yet, but whoever was next to me kind of crowded me and I ran out of room.”

Asked by IMS Radio whether he wanted to come back again next year for attempt No. 21 in Indianapolis, Andretti left the door open.

“I want to,” he said.
