Marks to Run Remaining Xfinity Road Courses for Ganassi

By Seth Eggert, Staff Writer

Road course specialist Justin Marks will compete in the three remaining road course events for Chip Ganassi Racing. First Marks will run at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, followed by Road America and the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Marks will have Chevrolet Accessories onboard the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro SS in all three races. His first race will be this weekend’s Rock N Roll Tequila 170 at Mid-Ohio.

Marks famously won the 2016 rain-soaked NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio. In addition to his win, the Rocklin, CA native has two top-five and five top-10 finishes in the Xfinity Series, all coming in road course events. Marks has 32 career starts in the series.

“It is always special to be able to race for a quality team like Chip Ganassi Racing,” Marks said. “To partner that with Chevrolet Accessories on board for all three of the races that I will run is just special. Starting that three-race run at Mid-Ohio will be a lot of fun for me to go back with this team and try to match what we did in 2016. Chip Ganassi Racing always brings great cars to the race track, so I look forward to the opportunity to try and race hard to get the No. 42 back in victory lane where it belongs.”

Marks already has three NASCAR starts this season, one in the Camping World Truck Series and two in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. One of those Premier Series starts came at Sonoma Raceway where the 37-year-old driver started 33rd and finished 28th for Premium Motorsports. Marks is scheduled to return to the Jay Robinson-owned team for the Bank of America 400K at the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Marks has 38 starts with four top-10 finishes and two pole positions. He also has 61 starts in the ARCA Racing Series with one victory at the series’ only visit to the road course at Palm Beach International Raceway.

Saturday’s race at Mid-Ohio will be the first time Marks has competed in all three of NASCAR’s National Series in the same year since the 2015 season.
