David Gilliland Racing – CROSLEY Group continues to develop talent as Matt Mills joins the team. Mills will drive the No. 54 J.F. Electric / Crosley Brands Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway. Mills has primarily driven for underfunded teams until now.
Mills has 10 previous Truck Series starts with two top-20 finishes. His best result, 17th(twice), came at Kansas Speedway and Dover International Speedway last year with Faith Motorsports. The 21-year-old has yet to finish on the lead lap in Truck Series competition.
“I’m very excited to be getting an opportunity to run for DGR-Crosley,” said Mills. “The past few years I have been using my opportunities to learn and grow as a driver. Now I’ll get to test the skills and see where I rank up with other drivers in the field. The DGR-Crosley team brings fast trucks to the track every weekend.”
Mills joins the round-table of drivers that have competed for the first-year Truck team. Team co-owners Bo LeMastus and David Gilliland, as well as Chris Eggleston, Chris Windom, Justin Marks, Kyle Benjamin, Tyler Dippel, and Zane Smith have each competed for the team. To date, the team has just four top-five finishes, with Kyle Benjamin earning the team its’ first, a runner-up finish at Martinsville Speedway.
“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel to see what I can do, and how much more I can learn with them at Michigan,” Mills continued. “Having David [Gilliland] there to help me is going to be huge asset. I can’t thank everyone at J.F. Electric and DGR-Crosley enough for giving me this opportunity.”
Mills also has nine NASCAR Xfinity Series starts. His best finish in the series, 27th(twice), came with JD Motorsports. The finishes came at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway.
