In recent history, most drivers attempting to run all three NASCAR National Series, also known as ‘the triple,’ have been Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers. This weekend, NASCAR Xfinity Series regular Ross Chastain will run all 800 miles at Dover International Speedway.
In the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series AAA 400 Drive for Austim, Chastain will make his debut in the No. 15 Chevrolet SS for Premium Motorsports. In the Xfinity Series One Main Financial 200, he will compete in the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller. And in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Bar Harbor 200 No. 66 Chevrolet Silverado for Bolen Motorsports.
Chastain will have Delaware Office of Highway Safety – Protect Your Melon as his primary sponsor in all three events.
In the 83 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Chastain has five Top 10s. He also has 50 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts with five top fives, 14 Top 10s, and 2 pole positions.
Chastain has four Xfinity and two Truck Series starts at Dover with a best finish of 12th in last year’s Playoff race at Dover. He also earned an eighth-place finish in the heat race last Spring at Dover.
Chastain was excited about the opportunities and the opportunity to complete the tripleheader.
“It’s going to be a big weekend at Dover,” said Chastain. “I’m excited about all the possibilities. The Protect Your Melon campaign is very important to me, and we’ll be talking about that a lot while we’re there.”
“The Cup race will be fun, but, of course, our concentration for the weekend will be on Johnny’s Xfinity program. We’ll be looking for a strong ride there.”
Currently, Chastain sits 20th in the Xfinity Series Driver Points Standings, 210 points behind points leader Elliott Sadler and 69 points behind the cutoff for the Playoffs.
Now Chastain will look forward to successful races in all three of NASCAR’s National Series.
