Another ripple effect of Carl Edwards leaving the sport, is where do his former sponsors go? Obviously Arris will be sticking around to sponsor Daniel Suarez’s Rookie of the Year campaign, but what about the other affiliated sponsors from the No. 19 team?
Sports Clips — who had sponsored Edwards for the last couple of years, has announced via their website that they will be moving their primary sponsorship over to Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry for two races, and they will adorn the hood of Erik Jones’ No. 77 Toyota Camry for four events in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Hamlin will fly the white and red paint scheme at Auto Club Speedway in March and Darlington in September. Jones will have the Sports Clips colors on his car at Bristol in April, Daytona in July, Indianapolis in July and Texas in November.
The hair salon chain will also sponsor Hamlin in one NASCAR Xfinity Series event this year — also at Darlington.
Hamlin of course is coming off of a 2016 season which saw him record a victory in the Daytona 500. He went on to finish sixth in the championship standings after a three-win year.
Jones is heading into his rookie season in NASCAR’s premier series.
