For the second day in a row at Martinsville Speedway, Mother Nature got the upper hand, postponing all Sunday track activity to Monday due to snow.
The wintry weather that set in around the half-mile track on Saturday never let up throughout the night, dropping several inches of snow, and forcing NASCAR’s hand as dawn broke on Sunday morning.
NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer, Steve O’Donnell would tweet the news out, noting the need to dedicate local resources toward any issues in the community.
Way more snow than anticipated last night-Met with track/local authorities this morning-resources need to be dedicated to local community-roads-trees down, etc. We’ll put on a great day of @NASCAR Monday. #doubleheader Always a tough call but the right one in this case.

The already delayed NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will now kick things off on Monday, running at 11:00 am Eastern, followed by the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at approximately 2:00 pm. Both races will be televised on FOX Sports 1, as well as having radio broadcasts on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
