Homestead-Miami Speedway Tag

By: Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service HOMESTEAD, Fla. – As Cole Custer celebrated his first victory in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and 19-year-old William Byron reveled in the series championship, a heartbroken and angry Elliott Sadler confronted the driver he believed cost him a long-coveted NASCAR title. Custer took the checkered flag in a different zip code, crossing the finish line 15.405 seconds ahead of second-place Sam Hornish Jr., who delivered the owners’ championship to Roger Penske. The real action, however, occurred three-quarters of a lap behind the winner. Sadler hadRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer A second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship just wasn’t meant to be for Johnny Sauter. Sauter entered the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway with momentum after winning the two races leading up to the season finale. However, Sauter just didn’t have the truck to compete with eventual champion Christopher Bell. Like Bell, Sauter started mid-pack. Bell made quick work of Sauter as the duo fought to catch the other Championship Four drivers. Sauter’s No. 21 ISM Connect Chevrolet Silverado followed Bell’s No. 4Read More
Editor’s note: This is the third of a four-part series focusing on why each of the Championship Four will end Sunday’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series title in hand. By Brian Eberly, Contributing Writer With five victories, 13 top-five and 21 top-10 finishes, eight poles and almost 2,000 laps led in 2017, most wouldn’t describe Kyle Busch’s season as “trying.” But that’s exactly how the 32-year-old driver described it when asked for one word to represent the season during Championship 4 media availability inRead More

Sauter to Return to GMS Racing in 2018

By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer The best thing a driver can do on the day in which they fight for a championship is focus on the race. That is all that Johnny Sauter has to focus on in the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway as GMS Racing revealed he would return to the No. 21 Chevrolet Silverado in 2018. Sauter joined GMS Racing in 2016 and led the team to their, as well as his own, first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship. In 45 races with the team,Read More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer In a season dominated by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers, the NASCAR Xfinity Series season finale is finally here. 32 races into the NASCAR Xfinity Series season, only four of the NASCAR Xfinity Series regulars (Jeremy Clements, Ryan Reed, Justin Allgaier twice, and William Byron four times) have scored victories during the 2017 season. This weekend the NASCAR Xfinity Series travels to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford EcoBoost 300, the 33rd and final race of the season. The Championship Four at Homestead include raceRead More

By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – They’re not exactly the Three Musketeers. It won’t be “one for all, and all for one” when three JR Motorsports teammates—Elliott Sadler, William Byron and Justin Allgaier—take the green flag in Saturday’s Ford Eco-Boost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN). In fact, all three drivers, along with Richard Childress Racing’s Daniel Hemric, will be competing for the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship trophy, and there’s only one of those to go around. That doesn’t mean the teammates won’tRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer There are numerous descriptions that come to mind when it comes to describing two drivers that have spent much of their careers competing with and against one another. Competitors, friends, student, teacher, former teammates, and rivals are just some of the words that can be used to describe NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship hopefuls Daniel Hemric and William Byron. Hemric and Byron’s career paths are similar as the duo rose through the ranks together. Both drivers will compete in the Ford EcoBoost 300 for the NASCARRead More
By David Morgan, NASCAR Editor Ahead of this weekend’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway that will see one of four drivers walk away with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship trophy, we’ll take a step back to 2004 and the first year of the Chase format, along with the drama that played out in the season finale to deliver Kurt Busch with his first Cup championship. With Sprint/Nextel taking over the series title sponsorship from Winston at the end of the 2003 season, a new championship format was introduced, calledRead More
By Seth Eggert, NASCAR Writer One more race is all that is left to determine a champion. 22 races into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season eight series regulars have scored a victory (Christopher Bell five times, Johnny Sauter four times, John Hunter Nemechek twice, Austin Cindric, Ben Rhodes, Noah Gragson, Matt Crafton, and Kaz Grala once). Heading into the 23rd and final race of the season, Bell, Cindric, Crafton, and Sauter are the Championship Four. The last time the Truck Series visited Homestead-Miami Speedway, William Byron earned theRead More
