Kyle Busch Motorsports has signed road racing veteran Alex Tagliani to drive at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
Tagliani will drive the No. 51 CanTorque / Spectra Premium / RONA Toyota Tundra in the Chevrolet Silverado 250. It marks the Montreal, Quebec native’s fifth start in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. All of Tagliani’s previous starts have come at the Bowmanville, Ontario track.
The 2018 NASCAR Pinty’s Series runner-up has 14 combined starts at the 2.459-mile track. Tagliani has one win, three top-five, and four top-10 finishes in Pinty’s Series competition at CTMP. In Truck Series competition at CTMP, Tagliani has one top-five and two top-10 finishes. In two races with Brad Keselowski Racing, he earned two pole positions and led 15 laps.
“It’s a real honor to represent KBM by driving the 51 truck,” Tagliani admitted. “I really appreciate Kyle and the entire team’s trust in giving me the opportunity to try to win. Carrying three Canadian companies to support the initiative at CTMP is really special. CanTorque showcasing their new tools made in Canada, driving a KBM truck equipped with a Spectra Premium Radiator and having lucky fans living a special behind-the-scenes experience feels really unique.”
In 78 Pinty’s Series starts, the 45-year-old has nine victories, 33 top-five, and 53 top-10 finishes. Tagliani has earned 10 pole positions with at least one a year dating back to 2009.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Tagliani has eight starts. He earned four top-five and five top-10 finishes including a dramatic runner-up finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015.
The KBM No. 51 has six victories this season, five with team owner Kyle Busch, and one with Greg Biffle. In total, the ‘all-star’ truck has earned nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 15 starts this season.
Tagliani’s next race in the Pinty’s Series is the Circuit de Trois-Rivieres street course August 11.
