Q&A with FIA WEC CEO Gerard Neveu

With the 2015 season nearing the half way point, how would you sum up the fourth year of the FIA World Endurance Championship so far? “We are very happy with the strong position of the FIA WEC after just four years but we are never complacent.  The championship is attractive to manufacturers, teams and drivers thanks to the stability of the sporting and technical regulations in place which allows strong competition and technical innovation.  We also have a strong calendar with events that are getting bigger and better each year,Read More

FIA removes new curb at Eau Rouge

The FIA has decided to remove a new curb at Eau Rouge prior to qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix. With the drivers capable of cutting part of the left-hander at Radillion – the top of the climb at Eau Rouge – a larger curb w installed at the apex. With a number of events in GP2 and GP3 that saw several cars getting airborne momentarily after making contact with the curb, the FIA decided following a driver’s meeting to remove it. After looking poised for a possible breakout weekend in Bristol, tire issues ended Kyle Larson’s chance for that elusive first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory. The second-year driver ran as high as second following a two-tire pit stop during and hung among the leaders for much of the first part of the race. However, late in the run Larson encountered a left-front tire blowing out, possibly as a result of contact, sending him to back among lead lap cars. Larson continued to battle, but on lap 359 the No. 42Read More

Castroneves pips Pagenaud for Pocono Pole

Helio Castroneves captured his 45th IndyCar pole for Sunday’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway and leads an all Team Penske 1-2-3. Teammate Simon Pagenaud set the pace with a 220.485 two lap average that was just a scant .1 mph clear of Will Power. Charlie Kimball initially laid down the fastest warmup lap of the day. A fast warmup lap would lead to disaster as Kimball lost it in turn 3 and hit the outside wall head on and briefly went airborne. The rear of the #83 Chevrolet grazedRead More
Lewis Hamilton is a man on a mission. Fresh off F1’s summer break, and on the back of a sloppy round in Hungary, the championship leader set a blistering 1:49.197 lap at Spa today to claim a new track record and beat team mate Nico Rosberg by more than 4/10ths of a second. Despite Rosberg leading in FP1 and FP2, Hamilton took charge and led in FP3 and all three qualifying sessions from Belgium. He and Rosberg even lead in Q1 despite being the only runners on the harder compoundRead More

Kyle Busch grabs overtime XFINITY win at Bristol

In a Food City 300 that went to two laps of overtime at the .533-mile short track, Busch finished .427 seconds ahead of Kyle Larson, as Buescher faded to 11th after his car failed to pick up fuel off Turn 2 of the next-to-last lap. As one of only two female drivers racing full-time in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship – the other is Prototype racer Katherine Legge – there’s something else to distinguish Christina Nielsen from the rest of the competitors in the GT Daytona class: With just three races to go, Nielsen sits atop the points for the season championship. And you’d think the fact that she’s all by herself in the points lead would be a good thing, as the next 14 drivers in the points are all tied with at leastRead More
Racers, fans and track day aficionados rejoice, the ring is back! Well in 2016 it will be. The famed “Green Hell” is set to remodel a bit, repave some areas and re-open, thankfully speed limit free by next year. Speed limits and record attempts were famously banned earlier this year after a racing incident that resulted in the fatality of a track side spectator after a Nissan GT-R flew off track during a VLN endurance race. 16 specific safety measures will be taken after an extensive study by Nurburgring owners,Read More
